Edwards/Cheney Debate a Draw

I spent most of tonight's VP debate only half-listening to the comments made, but got a feeling that neither side had hit any major blows or suffered any embarassments. More so than last week, this debate was a draw.

You can consider that a win for Edwards, if you assumed Cheney's 30 years in government and politics would allow him to pulverize the competition. Or you can consider it a win for Cheney, as you might have expected Edwards to do better.

I'll just leave it as a draw and let you to draw the conclusions.

Tolbert Hall Legacy

UF's fall Student Government elections happened this week, and much of it stayed true to form. The greek/independent coalition called Access won seats for 41 of 42 candidates, and backed a write-in campaign for the 43rd seat. The sole outlier, the lonely Independent, came from Tolbert Hall, as has been frequently the case. That is a political legacy most attributed to its status as an honors dorm, but it still holds true today. Congrats.

Last Thought on the 1st Debate

Last night, I thought Kerry won the debate. I still think that. But given that Bush lost steam as the night went on, and that terrorism and foreign policy are Bush's strengths, I can't imagine that this is anything but a huge gift to the Kerry campaign to have won this first debate.
